Mehmet Yaşaroğlu is the founder of MEBA STEEL GMBH and a Premium Member of ATİAD. Yaşaroğlu, who has been operating in the steel industry for nearly 30 years, is a worliwide global player in the steel industry with its subsidiaries in Turkey and Germany. Stating that he prefers an active life, Mehmet Yaşaroğlu answered Members’ questions sincerely.
Members – Mr. Yasaroglu, can you tell us about yourself?
Mehmet Yaşaroğlu – I was born on October 1, 1957 in Nizip district of Gaziantep. I completed my primary, secondary and high school education in Nizip, and my university education in 1983 at Ankara – Middle East Public Administration High School. I started my business life in banking sector in 1983. Until 1992, I worked as a foreign trade specialist in the international departments of various companies in the industrial projects sector. I founded my company in Turkey, POLAR DIŞ TİCARET, in 1992, and MEBA STEEL GMBH in 2002.
I speak English fluently (C1) and German at B1/B2 level. I am married and have two children, named Barış and Merve. The name MEBA consists of first two letters of their names. I like a dynamic, active life. Traveling and cooking are my most distinct hobbies, I exercise regularly and read a lot. The subjects that I am most interested in are history and economy.
You have been in steel sector for almost 30 years. How was this idea born and how did it develop?
